Bio
I have a unique background with expertise based on museum, fine art, graphic design, and education experience which let me bring a broad art and design perspective, clear communication, flexibility, and a discerning eye to all of my projects. I am driven to create clean and functional works that also delight the eye and mind.
I have earned degrees in graphic design (BA from University of Maryland Baltimore County), painting and drawing (BFA Montana State University), and art education (BA Montana State University). This combination provides a broad background spanning art and design history through modern digital techniques, along with the creativity and communication tools required to teach.
My museum experience, public and private teaching experience, and in-house graphic designer experience give me insight and skills that range from show installation and classroom management to the conception, design, and production of commercial promotional materials.
This diverse background reflects a series of relocations following my husband through graduate school and career progression over the last 18 years. It has been challenging for my career to move frequently and to start a family but I have had success in each new location and situation. The best way to describe my progression is not a linear timeline but a game of Chutes and Ladders, but in every bend and curve I have found wonderful opportunity. I have had an incredible series of experiences and met such wonderful people; I know there is a lot we can learn if we are patient, watch, listen, and ask. Finally, being a mother of a nine-year old boy is the other great inspiration in my life. His curiosity and creativity are an inspiration and his innocent but profound words have transformed me and split my heart and perspective wide open.
